The Wave 1 app keeps crashing after I upgraded to the latest app version [iOS devices, December 2020]

12/23/20 Update: We recently discovered a bug affecting some users of the Embr Wave 1 app on iOS devices, where the app was continually crashing when trying to use the Modes feature or when data syncing occurs. Here are steps you can take to manually upgrade your firmware to avoid this bug:

  • If you are using the Embr Wave app on an iOS device and it crashes unexpectedly:
    1. Reopen the app.
    2. As soon as your Wave is paired, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open Settings.
    3. Next to Firmware, tap Update to get the latest firmware version (v47).
  • If you are already experiencing a loop of repeated crashes and attempted upgrades:
    1. Force close the Embr Wave app. (Here are instructions for force closing an app on iOS devices.)
    2. Reopen the app.
    3. As soon as your Wave is paired, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open Settings.
    4. Next to Firmware, tap Update to get the latest firmware version (v47).

If you've tried the above steps and are still having problems with the app crashing, please let us know! (And here's how you can use your Wave to warm or cool without the app while you're waiting for help.)

Note: If you have an Android device, you should not be affected by this bug!
