My Wave 1 battery life seems really short.Updated 10 months ago

Here are some steps you can take if you feel like your Embr Wave's battery life is unusually short.

Embr Wave's battery is designed to give 15-50 sessions of warming or cooling in moderate environments. If your battery life seems much shorter than this, here are some things to check on:
  • Are you using All Night Mode? At 8 hours, All Night Mode is 8x longer than the longest session the Wave was previously able to offer, so it uses quite a bit more battery life than other modes. If you use All Night Mode, you should expect that you'll need to charge your Wave again after the session has ended.
  • It's possible that your Wave isn't getting a chance to charge fully. A complete charge should last about 1.5 hours when powered by a wall plug. If you're charging from a USB port on your computer, for example, it may take longer to reach a full charge. The next time you charge your Wave and the light bar turns solid green, try unplugging it and plugging it in again for another 10-15 minutes, just in case.
  • Li-ion batteries can see their capacity go down by 50% in very cold weather (you might have noticed this with your smartphone, too). If you're wearing your Wave outdoors in the winter, keep it against your skin to prevent it from getting too cold.
  • The Wave is designed to operate in moderate environments. If you're using your device in very cold or very hot conditions, that's okay, but your Wave is probably using more power and depleting the battery faster than it would normally.

If these factors don't affect what you're seeing with your battery, the next thing to try would be to reset your Wave. You can find instructions and follow along to a short video here: Video: How to reset your Wave [2 minutes]
